Genesis GV70 Wrapped in Film
Both experienced car owners and newcomers are increasingly opting for the service of wrapping their vehicles in polyurethane film. This is an effective way to prevent scratches and scuffs on the car’s body, protecting it from environmental influences. The film is applied once for several years, allowing you to forget about polishing the body. Moreover, it’s more cost-effective than annual, expensive maintenance.
To protect their vehicles from unwanted damage and maintain a beautiful appearance, car enthusiasts wrap their cars in polyurethane film. It’s the best protection against rocks, sand, tree branches, and careless washing. On a chemical level, the polyurethane film shields the body from chemicals in cleaning agents, road marking enamel, anti-ice agents, and organic pollutants like bird droppings, tree sap, and insect traces.

Thanks to modern technology, manufacturers have succeeded in creating high-quality and truly effective polyurethane films. The main differences lie in thickness and appearance. At our studio, you can choose to wrap your car in matte, transparent, or pearlescent film. All options provide the same level of protection, with only the visual effect differing.
The main advantages of protective film include:
- Reliable protection against chemical and mechanical impacts;
- Absolute transparency, allowing the film to be applied to the car’s optics;
- Long service life;
- Self-healing ability when exposed to heat;
- The paintwork remains in perfect condition until the film is removed.
It seems obvious — the choice is clear. However, there’s another challenge — which film to choose. Several options are available.
Types of Film
Besides polyurethane, there’s also vinyl film. Let’s compare them first by characteristics and then by design.

Polyurethane is considered the highest quality and most durable. Compared to vinyl, it has three undeniable advantages:
- Thickness;
- Self-healing ability;
- Durability.
Polyurethane film has the greatest thickness among film coatings — from 150 to 210 microns. This significantly enhances the level of protection and helps keep the car in pristine condition throughout its service life.
Undoubtedly, over time, scratches will appear on the film. BUT! The advantage is that they will heal on their own with a little heat. For example, you can leave your car under the scorching sun in the summer, and in a few hours, the coating will look as good as new. The film allows sunlight to pass through to the car body, so it doesn’t fade or discolor over time. UV rays have virtually no impact on the car’s paint color. These properties will last for 5-10 years with constant use, making it the most durable protective coating available, giving polyurethane a clear advantage.
When the film is removed, you’ll be surprised that the body hasn’t changed at all. If you wrap a new car, after 10 years under the film, it will look as if it just rolled off the showroom floor.

Vinyl film, on the other hand, is typically chosen when you want to completely change the color of the car body. Often, black vinyl film is applied only to the roof, while the rest of the car is wrapped in polyurethane. A wide color palette and various textures allow you to transform your car beyond recognition.
Vinyl’s protective properties differ slightly from polyurethane. The film doesn’t allow sunlight to pass through, so the color may lose its vibrancy over time. Since vinyl needs to be replaced after 2-3 years of use, the difference in color will be barely noticeable by that point.
Vinyl film lacks the self-healing function. As a result, any scratches that appear over time will not disappear. Yes, after 2 years of use, the situation won’t be critical, but small scratches in the form of cobwebs will be noticeable, especially in direct sunlight.
Based on this, polyurethane film is more effective and reliable, which is why the owner of today’s Genesis GV70 chose it.
Despite the initial expense, it’s a worthwhile investment in protecting your car. You won’t have to worry about polishing or repainting the body if it gets damaged. Plus, there are no special maintenance requirements. Wash your car whenever and wherever you like, and the quality of protection will remain unaffected.

Before starting the wrapping process, let’s take a look at the types of polyurethane film available. As mentioned earlier, it comes in glossy, matte, and pearlescent finishes.
Matte and glossy films are more popular. The former eliminates glare, reduces the number of fingerprints on the car, and gives the body color a softer, more unique look. The latter is transparent and nearly invisible, allowing it to better enhance the car’s original color.
Pearlescent film helps your vehicle stand out and adds originality.
The owner of the Genesis GV70 opted for transparent polyurethane film and was very satisfied. After the application and drying process, the film became completely invisible on the body, while enhancing the original color with extra gloss.
Front Part of Genesis Wrapped in Film
We offer two wrapping options — full or partial. You can wrap the entire car body or just certain parts:
- Bumper;
- Hood;
- Fenders;
- Headlights;
- Mirror covers;
- A strip on the roof;
- Windshield pillars;
- Door handle cups.

Car owners often choose to wrap only the most vulnerable parts of the car, known as the “front end”: front bumper, headlights, hood, front fenders, mirror covers, door handle cups, and windshield pillars. This is the option chosen for the Genesis GV70. The client is wrapping their car for the first time, so before opting for a full wrap, they decided to test the effectiveness of this type of body protection.
Tip: If you drive your car daily, it’s better to choose full wrapping right away. This way, you can always be confident that all body parts are protected. With full wrapping, the car is reliably protected on all sides.
Wrapping Process at CarEngineering Studio
The wrapping process follows a strict procedure. Preparation starts with washing the car. Every detail, both inside and out, is thoroughly cleaned of dirt, grease, wax, and invisible water spots. Applying the film to a perfectly clean body is the key to quality wrapping.
If the technician finds rust spots or paint chips during the wash, they will be fixed before the film is applied.
For better adhesion on especially vulnerable areas, we wrap Genesis with film with a fold. The fold increases the reliability of protection and prevents tearing after washing or exposure to stones. Depending on the part, the technician folds the film by 0.5-2 mm. Even the smallest fold is enough to prevent the film from peeling off during use.

Steps:
- The film is cut to the size of each body part. Technicians cut it with a margin for folding.
- The film is applied using the wet method, ensuring even distribution across the body.
- The film is smoothed out using rubber squeegees, which help smooth the film without damaging it. They remove excess air and liquid to ensure better adhesion to even the curved parts of the body.
- The excess film is trimmed, and the edges are folded.
- The car is left to dry for 1-2 days. During this time, the edges fully dry, preventing the film from peeling due to strong winds, moisture, or dirt. A week later, we invite you back to our studio for a free wash and a second inspection of the wrapping quality.
