Lamborghini Huracan: Wrapping with Polyurethane Paint Protection Film
It’s hard to call the Lamborghini Huracan anything less than perfect. The familiar body design combined with bright colors is truly impressive. But there are always ways to make a car even more unique.
When it arrived at the CarEngineering studio, the Lamborghini was fully wrapped in film. The car had previously undergone a full polyurethane film wrapping. The client was satisfied with the result but later decided to add a bit more uniqueness to the car. The decision was made to wrap the Lamborghini’s roof in black vinyl. The specialists removed the transparent film that had been applied and replaced it with the black one.

In this review, we’ll introduce you to the film protection service using the Lamborghini as an example. We’ll examine the differences between vinyl and polyurethane and take a look at how CarEngineering’s specialists applied the film to this car.
How to choose the right film for your Lamborghini: What’s the difference?
In our studio, you can choose vinyl or polyurethane for protecting your car. These coatings differ in thickness, protection levels, durability, and specific features. Let’s take a closer look at each type of film.
Vinyl
The thickness of vinyl film ranges from 100 to 150 microns. Because of this, the protection level is limited to shielding against tree branches and shrubs, bird droppings and insects, sand, and careless washing.
Despite minimal protection, vinyl is great in another way. The film allows you to dramatically change the appearance of the car: you can choose different colors, apply designs, patterns, or unique inscriptions. That’s why the client chose vinyl for the roof. The black color adds an accent to the car’s bright orange body and emphasizes its sporty design.
The lifespan of vinyl film on a Lamborghini is up to 5 years. This allows for frequent changes in the car’s appearance and experimenting with new textures.

Polyurethane
Polyurethane is significantly thicker than vinyl—ranging from 150 to 210 microns. The entire body of the Huracan is wrapped in this film. With polyurethane, the car is protected from tree branches and shrubs, bird droppings and insects, sand, small stones, resins, oils, mold, road chemicals, accidental scratches, minor collisions, and other vehicles brushing against it.
In addition to standard characteristics, polyurethane has an interesting feature—it can self-heal when exposed to heat. A Huracan wrapped in this film just needs to stand in the sun for a few hours, and any scratches or scuffs will disappear on their own. This helps the film maintain its shiny and new look for its entire lifespan—5 to 8 years. During this period, the film requires no special care and will reliably protect the car body year-round. After 8 years, when the film is removed, the body will still shine with no wear and tear.
Benefits of fully wrapping the Huracan
As mentioned, the client had previously visited our studio for a full wrap of their car. The specialists applied the protective film evenly across the body, protecting it from damage. If the client later wants to make changes, the film can be easily removed without leaving any residue.
Had the client only wrapped the roof, the rest of the body would have been at risk. That’s why we always recommend full wrapping to our clients. The main advantages of this approach include:
- Uniform protection of all car elements
- No uneven wear between wrapped and unwrapped parts
- Reduced risk of damage to unprotected areas
A full wrap for the Lamborghini is the most effective protection option.

At our studio, we also offer partial wrapping services. This includes covering high-risk areas such as bumpers, hoods, headlights, windshield pillars, mirror covers, front fenders, and door handle cups with film. You can also select any part you want to protect with film, just like with the Huracan.
However, for frequent driving, partial wrapping may not be enough. Unprotected areas will accumulate scratches and scuffs over time, which can only be removed with polishing. But excessive polishing can damage the car’s paint.
If you’re unsure about which wrapping option to choose, consult with a CarEngineering specialist. They will consider your preferences and recommend the best protection package.
As an additional service, we offer the option to wrap chrome elements of the body with black vinyl. This “antichrome” not only protects small parts from scratches and rust but also complements the overall design.
