Sound Deadening Land Rover

A modern Land Rover is expected to be two cars in one: a tool that crosses the Empty Quarter and a refined family SUV for the school run. Off-road, it does everything asked of it. On the highway, many owners notice more noise than they expected for the price: road roar from the floor, drumming from the rear door and a busy cabin at speed. We bring the cabin closer to what the badge promises.

WE SOLVE THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS

01

PROTECTION AGAINST NOISE AND VIBRATIONS

We will get rid of excess noise, creaks in the cabin, and low-frequency hum

02

IMPROVING THE SOUND QUALITY OF FACTORY ACOUSTICS IN A CAR

The sound will become more saturated, and the bass will be deep and pleasant

03

THERMAL INSULATION

Keeps the interior cool during the hot season

04

ROAD STABILITY

Improves car behavior when driving on uneven roads

05

SILENCE IN THE CABIN

The car interior will become quieter, and the level of travel comfort will increase

06

CREAKS IN THE INTERIOR

We will resolve issues related to plastic squeaks in the cabin (for an additional fee)

CHANGES IN THE LEVEL OF NOISE REDUCTION FROM DECIBELS AT TIMES

*The change in decibels is not linear but logarithmic. Minus 1 dB is equivalent to a noise reduction of 1.26 times. Therefore, between 30 dB (almost silent) and 120 dB (plane on takeoff), there is only a fourfold difference in numbers, but colossal in reality

WE FOCUS ON QUALITY

The processing takes 2-3 days because we want to achieve maximum results and treat every surface in detail

Land Rover Soundproofing in Dubai

The current Defender and Discovery are built on aluminium bodies. Aluminium is light and strong, but thin panels still resonate, and a large, upright cabin gives that resonance plenty of room. On the Defender, the side-hinged rear door carries the spare wheel on the outside, so every bump reaches the load area directly. A long wheelbase and a third row of seats in the 110 and 130 mean a lot of floor area for tyre noise to come through.

We use SGM materials in two layers. A 3–4 mm vibration layer goes on the panels to stop them resonating. Barrier Lite or Barrier Ultra membranes go on top to block airborne noise, and SGM Block fills voids in the body. The doors, floor and roof are treated on every car. On a Land Rover, the rear door, the load area and the wheel arches are the zones most often added. We agree the full list with you after the technician has heard your car on the road.

Land Rover Models We Treat

  • Defender 90: a short body with a large rear door. Treating the load area and rear door gives the most noticeable change.
  • Defender 110: the most common Defender in the UAE. A long floor and five or seven seats, so the floor and wheel arches matter most.
  • Defender 130: the longest cabin, with eight seats. It has the largest floor area and a third row close to the rear wheels.
  • Discovery and Discovery Sport: family SUVs used for long trips, where lower highway noise and fuller factory audio are what owners notice first.
  • Range Rover models: already quiet from the factory, so the work targets the remaining low-frequency hum and the audio.

We’re known for delivering the best auto sound deadening in the city, with precision work and attention to detail.

How We Work on Your Land Rover

A Land Rover interior hides a lot of clips, wiring and electronics behind the trim. Our technicians remove the seats, carpets and panels, treat every metal surface in detail and reassemble the interior so no new rattles appear. The work takes 2–3 days, because careful disassembly and reassembly take as long as applying the material itself.

On the floor, we use material no thicker than 4 mm, so the carpet sits properly after reassembly and the seats and rails fit as before. Before we start, the technician asks how you use the car, whether you drive mostly in the city, on long highway trips or in the desert, and plans the zones and materials around the answer and your budget. Every stage is photographed, and you receive a report on what was installed and where.

Sound Deadening Land Rover – FAQ

Why is my Land Rover louder on the highway than I expected?

A modern Land Rover has to be two cars in one: an off-road tool and a refined family SUV. Off-road it does everything you ask, but at highway speed many owners hear more noise than they expected for the price. The current Defender and Discovery are built on aluminium bodies. Aluminium is light and strong, but thin panels still resonate, and a large, upright cabin gives that panel resonance plenty of room. The result is road roar from the floor, drumming from the rear door and a busy cabin at speed. Auto sound deadening, or car sound deadening, brings the cabin closer to what the badge promises.

What are the main benefits of sound deadening a Land Rover?

You get a quieter cabin on the highway, less low-frequency hum, fuller factory audio and a cooler interior. Road noise, tire noise and unwanted noise from the rear drop to a calmer level, so conversations with the family in the back no longer need raised voices. On long trips this makes a big difference: a more comfortable ride, less stress and a much better driving experience. With less noise around you, it is easier to keep your focus on the road and enjoy some peace on the way.

Which sound deadening materials do you use?

We work with SGM, one of the brands made specifically for automotive sound insulation, and use them in two layers. The first is a 3 to 4 mm vibration mat, the type of material often called butyl mats in the industry. It goes onto the metal panels to stop panel vibration and resonance, which is the vibration control part of the job. The second is an SGM Barrier Lite or Barrier Ultra membrane on top, which is there to block noise travelling through the air, while foam layers help absorb noise that is already in the cabin. SGM Block fills voids in the body. If you want the technical details of the butyl layer or the closed cell foam in a specific product, our specialists will go through them with you.

Do you use mass loaded vinyl as a barrier?

Mass loaded vinyl is a heavy barrier product used by many installers against airborne noise. In our system, that role is taken by SGM Barrier Lite and Barrier Ultra membranes, laid over the vibration layer. The technician chooses the right one for each zone of your Land Rover, depending on where the noise actually comes from. On the floor, the aim is to block road noise before it reaches the cabin, and the result is noise insulation that works for your specific vehicle.

Which areas of a Land Rover do you treat?

The doors, floor and roof are treated on every car, as on most cars we work on. On a Land Rover, the rear door, the load area and the wheel arches are the zones most often added as additional measures. The floor and wheel wells are where tire noise enters, the rear door and load area are where drumming comes from, and the front doors and roof carry much of the wind noise. Other key areas, such as the engine bay, can be discussed if engine noise bothers you. We agree the full list with you after the technician has heard your car on the road.

Why is the Defender rear door so noisy, and can you fix it?

On the Defender, the side-hinged rear door carries the spare wheel on the outside, so every bump reaches the load area directly. Unlike a car with a light trunk lid, this is a heavy panel that drums on rough roads. Treating the rear door and load area is one of the most common additions on a Defender, and on the short Defender 90 it gives the most noticeable change of all.

Is the approach different for the Defender 90, 110 and 130?

Yes. The Defender 90 has a short body with a large rear door, so the load area and rear door matter most. The Defender 110 is the most common Defender in the UAE, with a long floor and five or seven seats, so the floor and wheel arches are the priority. The Defender 130 has the longest cabin, eight seats, the largest floor area and a third row close to the rear wheels, which makes reducing road noise from the floor and arches especially important for passengers in the back.

Is sound deadening worth it on a Discovery or Discovery Sport?

Yes, especially if you use it as a family car for long trips. On the Discovery and Discovery Sport, owners usually notice two things first: lower highway noise and fuller sound from the factory speakers. For drivers who spend hours on UAE highways, it is a smart upgrade that makes every journey calmer.

My Range Rover is already quiet. Will I notice a difference?

Range Rover models are already quiet from the factory, as you would expect from luxury cars of this class. On these cars our work targets what is left: the remaining low-frequency hum and the quality of the audio. The change is more subtle than on a Defender, but owners who want the quietest possible cabin and better music do hear it.

Can sound deadening make a Land Rover completely silent?

No, and we don’t promise a fully sound proof cabin. No car sound deadener insulation can eliminate road noise, external noise or outside noise completely, especially with off-road tyres. What effective sound deadening gives you is a real noise reduction and a quieter ride. Decibels work on a logarithmic scale, so even a few decibels less is clearly noticeable when you listen to the cabin.

Will removing the seats and panels cause new rattles?

That is exactly what we work to avoid when we install sound deadening. A Land Rover interior hides a lot of clips, wiring and electronics behind the trim. Our technicians remove the seats, carpets and panels, treat every metal surface in detail and reassemble the interior so no new rattles appear. Careful disassembly and reassembly take as long as applying the material itself. If your car already has plastic squeaks, we can fix them as an additional service.

I drive in the desert a lot. Can sand or moisture affect the material?

Tell the technician how you use the car before work starts: mostly city, long highway trips or the desert. The zones and materials are planned around your answer and your budget. Quality automotive materials are made to seal against the metal and not absorb moisture. Before a mat is installed, the metal surfaces are cleaned and degreased so no gaps remain underneath, and isopropyl alcohol is commonly used for this step in the industry.

How long does it take and what do I get at the end?

The work takes 2 to 3 days. Every stage is photographed, and when you collect the car you receive a report on what was installed and where. That way you can see the quality of the work, not just hear the result.

How much does Land Rover sound deadening cost in Dubai?

Car soundproofing for a Land Rover starts from 10,500 AED. The final price depends on the model, the zones you choose and the materials used. The technician agrees the full list and the price with you before any work begins, so there are no surprises. The aim is the best performance for your budget, not simply the biggest package.
